About Peanut Road

The Place: We are located in a 1940 farmhouse on an acre and a half, set among the cotton and peanut fields of Panhandle Florida.

The People: Well, that would mostly be me, Stephen Brooke, unless one counts my cats, Captain Billy Bones and Pi R. Round. And they usually run and hide from visitors so I don't pay them much.

How to get here. We are only a short way off a major highway, US 231, running north to Dothan and Montgomery, south to the beautiful beaches of Panama City. The thriving city of Marianna is only about 20 miles away and Tallahassee is less than a two hour drive, via I-10. The map above should show you the way or write if you need more detail.

Our local weather. It's always good, of course! After all, we're in Florida, albeit just across the border from Alabama. Panhandle summers are hot, no denying, and the winters can be cooler than one might expect in Florida...but they're still pretty mild. It's a great place to be and it's mighty peaceful sitting on the porch at Peanut Road.

Unless, of course, the cotton and peanut harvesters and trucks are busy. That's a part of country life too!
